VIGIL – Friday, December 4th, 2020

This is an annual memorial event marking the anniversary of the École Polytechnique de Montréal tragedy, honouring the women who lost their lives and commemorating the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

This event speaks to gender-based violence, the plight of murdered and missing indigenous women, and domestic violence. There is a ceremony to honour each of the 14 young women who lost their lives at L’Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal on December 6, 1989.

This year for the first time the University of Waterloo and CFUW K-W have partnered to create a special ceremony of remembrance. A pre-recorded memorial video will be broadcast on YouTube live on December 4, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Please show your support by signing in and watching the online 30-minute ceremony.

Once you register, you will receive instructions on how to connect on December 4th.

If you missed it or are unable to join us at that time, please note that the recording will continue to be available to view on YouTube - click here
